Reconnecting with the past

Before you begin your internship journey, it’s important to check in with yourself—your mindset, your story, and your assumptions. This module will help you reflect on your past experiences, recognize what’s helped you grow, and release anything that might hold you back.

What builds you?

  • Exploring experiences helps you see how your background has built resilience, values, and strengths.

Example: “Growing up in an immigrant household, I learned to adapt quickly and problem-solve on the fly.”

  • Identifying fears or insecurities makes it easier to notice unhelpful thought patterns—and shift them before they get in your way.

Example: Fear of asking too many questions, fear of being the only one who doesn’t know something.

  • Creating a grounding intention gives you something to return to when things get hard, awkward, or overwhelming.

Example: “I’m here to learn, not to be perfect.”

Exercise: Access the Grounding & Growing Worksheet and work through the prompts to be at ease with your past and feel empowered to start your internship with a positive intention.
