Summer Riptide Reflections (Part Two)
Utilizing summer intern reflections, we are continuing to inquire into what it takes to get others involved in something phenomenal. On the surface, this sounds like an easy thing to do. Who doesn’t want to get involved in something extraordinary, right? The reality is it just isn’t that simple, just as looking at the ocean surface tells you nothing about the activities beneath.
What Interns See, Expressed
Again, after a month of interning at Agile Rainmakers’ Summer Riptide program, we asked seven interns to reflect. Here are direct quotes of what they see:
In just three weeks, our daily framing of our work through dignity, freedom, and abundance has had me loving working in the office environment alongside the team doing meaningful, high impact consulting work. Our work can be tough, confusing, and frustrating at times, but one thing’s for sure: there is never a dull moment and never a time when you can’t find the support you need as an intern...every day brings new questions, new challenges, and new opportunities for personal and professional growth that the company culture teaches us to embrace...
One thing in particular that I really like about this internship is the way that we have to exercise our communication skills across mediums for anything to get done efficiently.
As I reflect on my first month at Agile Rainmakers and at the client, there is so much for me to be grateful for. I’m grateful to Rob for providing me with this wonderful experience to explore the crypto world through hands-on research.
So far this summer, I have learned to lead with confidence in the value I can bring to a team and to a project. I have learned to learn from others, communicate clearly and effectively, and manage others (including clients!). The communication skills I have developed so far this summer have been invaluable to my personal and professional development...
One can’t help but be inspired when reading these quotes from today’s college students. They are happy, productive, and grateful. Their lives are expanding both professionally and personally. Their ship is ready to sail anywhere.
Keen Ideas Drive Success
This kind of work environment is made possible through many simple ideas implemented with integrity. Here are but a few. Have a daily routine. This allows for some predictability in not just what happens each day but also in how one measures one’s own progress. Next, make sure activities are varied. You don’t want to have to do the same things over and over at work, it’s just not good for your mind, body, and soul. Thirdly, learning is encouraged, whether in the realm of confidence, communication or learning itself. Lastly, there are lots of opportunities for growth.
Droplets
To get others bought into something fabulous, one must share facts and data consistently over time. It is as if one is filling a bucket one drop at a time. This allows the listener to absorb what is being said so that their view of what is and isn’t possible shifts. Within an empowering environment, what could be possible?
Here's to you and your awesome future.
Until then, keep your feet on the board and keep riding your wave!
